Nursing Day at San Bernardino Valley College brings excitement about the benefits, and work opportunities for nurses in the Inland Empire! The beauty of Nursing Day is that it gives potential students insight into the nursing pathway with high school review courses, prerequisites, and SBVC coursework needed to successfully complete a nursing degree or program. Students hear from current nursing students who share their personal stories and provide unique insight and tips on how to prepare for college course work. Interactive stations provide some hands-on experience such as dopplers (to find pulses) and distracted driving simulators.
A large simulation room houses various stations for students to experience heart and lung auscultation, hand hygiene, hands-on CPR, breast examination, and "Surgical Sally" a classroom dummy which demonstrates tubes, incisions, and drains. A special thank you to the instructors (Rochelle Fender, and Grace Ortiz) and the nursing students who make this exerience so valuable to our students. Congratulations to the class of 2017 [pictured right].
